Linearizing Battery Degradation for Health-aware Vehicle Energy Management

The utilization of battery energy storage systems (BESS) in vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) benefits the realization net-zero energy-transportation nexus. Since BESS represents a substantial part vehicle total costs, mitigation degradation should be factored into management strategies. This paper proposes two-stage aging quantification health-aware method for reducing costs. In first stage, state calibration model is established by analyzing impact cycles with various Crates depth discharges based on semi-empirical method. further linearized learning mapping relationship between features life loss linear-in-the-parameter supervised second linear model, neural optimization-based developed mitigating aging. cost function formulated as combination system states, which simplifies solving reduces computation cost. case studies an aggregated EVs peak-shaving scenario PHEV engine-battery powertrain demonstrate effectiveness costs improving economy. work provides practical solution to hedge will promote decarbonization
